I teach them a lot of songs. One of my favorites is called ¿Ya está puesta la mesa? It is a song to teach them the vocabulary for setting the table. I teach them the words using the plate, glass, fork, etc. as visuals. Then after they know it well, they make up their own verses taking away whatever object they want or adding other objects. My kids love the rhythm of the language, and the sillier the poem, the better. They also remember it very well. Even though they're not quite three, they can recite long stretches of poetry on their own. We make a game of it. And the bonus is, even my own vocabulary is improving!<BR/><BR/>Our current book of poetry is called ¡Hola!, que me lleva la ola: Rimas, juegos y versos. So far she seems to prefer the Spanish.
